Bruce Loertscher
1956-2013
Loyal and dedicated to the Town he loved, Bruce Loertscher was known for wearing many hats in the Town of Plattekill throughout his lifetime. Loving husband and father, loyal friend and dedicated farmer.
Bruce always made time for Plattekill. From 1994-2001, Bruce served on the Planning Board holding the positions of Chairman, Vice-Chairman and as an Alternate to the UC Planning Board. He was elected Councilman in 2002-2005 and then was elected as Supervisor in 2006.
Bruce loved the summertime events at the park. You knew Bruce was happy when he was driving the tractor and pulling folk’s around in the hay wagon at Plattekill Day. He would also get a big kick out of the ever-growing Red, White & Blue 4th of July Fireworks Event at the park. It gave him a chance to mingle with the residents and catch up with the latest and greatest.
With dignity and class, Bruce Loertscher was laid to rest on a cold day in February. To say it was a sad day is an understatement. His smile would no longer light up a room or comfort a friend. But his spirit will live on forever.
Bruce A. Loertscher, age 56, of Wallkill died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. Born on May 15, 1956, in Newburgh, he was the son of Godfred J. and Helen (Williams) Loertscher. After retiring from Yellow Freight, Bruce became active in the local government of the town he loved.
