Thomas Felten Park Project
Thomas Felten Park Project mission statement is genuine: The project is dedicated to developing a sustainable and safe park facility for all town residents, with a common goal of establishing a stronger community identity and stimulating economic growth. The vision is simple: to have a community center, walking paths and bike trails, a dog park, community gardens and an outdoor recreation area.
The Thomas Felten Park Project is comprised of a small group of enthusiastic community members. Coming together to advocate for park improvements on behalf of the Town of Plattekill residents. The Plattekill Town Board has tasked the committee members to engage with residents of the Town of Plattekill (Plattekill, Modena, Ardonia, and Clintondale) and gather thoughts and ideas about enhancing the Thomas Felten Community Park.
Currently the park includes 20 acres of developed park land. These 20 acres contain a softball field, soccer fields, the pavilion, playground, picnic areas, horseshoes, bocce ball, flag pole area, scout camping area, parking area and the Veteran’s Park. In addition to the 20 acres of developed park land, we have 75 acres of undeveloped land. It has been 20 years since our core park was developed and improved. Our current objective is to create a 5 to 10 year community park master plan. The park master plan basics: 1. Outline Existing Facilities, Services & Conditions, 2. Analyze Needs and Preferences, 3. Prioritize Revisions & Improvements.
