Help Prevent Fires!

Just a friendly reminder to all Town of Plattekill residents, there is a State-Wide Burn Ban in effect from March 16, 2014 to May 14, 2014. Which means there should be NO BURNING of any kind during this time frame.

As of Oct. 14, 2009, NYSDEC has placed this burn ban in effect to protect and conserve our State. In addition, burning leaves has been permanently banned in NYS and you are encouraged to compost when possible.

Open burning is the GREATEST CAUSE of wildfires in NYS. Burn barrels are illegal. They often smolder, causing greater amounts of harmful chemicals into the air. Do your part, report any illegal open fires to the NYSDEC @ 1-800-847-7332.
