American Flag Drop Box
The Town of Plattekill proudly announces the placement of an American Flag Drop Box in front of the Plattekill Town Hall. The idea came from a resident of the Town suggesting the need of a local drop off designated for ripped or tattered American Flags, to then be disposed of accordingly.
A 1958 mailbox was donated by the Laskowsky Family for just such a use. Once the mailbox was prepped for restoration, two Boy Scouts from our Town completed the process by joining forces on this most worthy community service project.
Patrick Leonard from Troop 70 & Dustin Colombo from Troop 195 worked together to paint the mailbox Red, White & Blue. Decals donated by Don Dubois, owner of Sign Designs were then applied.
American Flags of all sizes can be placed in the American Flag Drop Box to be retired respectfully. Stop by and see our little piece of history!
